Inspection at Scana Volda for Estaleiro Oceana

GB Scana 2

Assembly of a marine gear box

Our inspection services in Volda, located in the west coast of Norway have been ordered by another customer from Brazil: Oceana Estaleiro, part of CBO group, which is building for themselves, after winning a Petrobras Bid Tender.

We´ve inspected the Set of Gear Boxes (responsible to convert the RPM of the main engine into the RPM of the propellers) which will be installed onboard all four (4) AHTS (Anchor Handling Tug Supply). Total of eight (8) units inspected.

Equipment is to be installed below the hull waterline, and therefore its arrival is mandatory before the launching ceremony of the vessel. Delays would have additional costs either by delaying this important shipbuilding milestone (linked to payment from ship owner), and cascade for next keel laying ceremony for the next vessel on Yard schedule, or forcing the yard to install them later through a hull cut-out.

Supplier is ready to deliver the 1st ship-set, and will follow their assembly plan closely to avoid delays. We´ve checked the main parts arrival and delivery dates for parts to next ship-sets. Pictures taken & report sent. No surprises.

Our reward: a satisfied customer!
